We are hiring a Technical Project Manager, based in Canada, to lead delivery across customer engagements and internal initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the connective tissue between our engineering teams, our customers, and the wider business.
The position is hands-on. You will manage engagements end-to-end and coordinate cross-functional internal projects. Deep expertise in FreeBSD or ZFS is not required at the outset; however, you will need sufficient technical fluency to follow engineering discussions and translate effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer engagements. Manage multiple concurrent projects with senior enterprise customers, including scoping, planning, status reporting, change management, delivery, and renewal.
- Internal delivery. Coordinate cross-functional initiatives spanning engineering, marketing, and operations.
- Modern PM tooling and automation. Design and implement automated workflows across our project management stack, including status rollups, intake and triage, reporting, and cross-tool integrations. Our objective is a project management function that scales through automation rather than headcount.
- Stakeholder communication. Maintain clear, written, asynchronous communication across time zones, with meetings reserved for when they are genuinely the most effective format.
- Risk and escalation. Identify issues early, present options, and escalate with sound judgement.
- Process. Establish lightweight, fit-for-purpose processes that support delivery without introducing unnecessary overhead.
Key Requirements
- 7+ years managing technical projects, ideally within services, consulting, or engineering-led environments.
- Demonstrated track record running multiple concurrent engagements with senior enterprise customers.
- Hands-on experience automating project management workflows, including integrations, automations, and reporting across modern PM tools such as Linear, Jira, Asana, Notion, or ClickUp. Familiarity with platforms such as Zapier, Make, or n8n, and comfort working with APIs, is expected.
- Strong written communication, with the ability to produce reporting that is both accessible to executives and credible with engineering teams.
- Comfort operating with ambiguity in a small-team environment.
- Technical literacy sufficient to follow architecture discussions and engage substantively with engineering teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Based in Canada and authorised to work in Canada.
Nice to have
- Experience with defense, critical infrastructure, or regulated enterprise customers.
- Familiarity with infrastructure software, operating systems, storage, or open-source engineering.
- Experience working fully asynchronously across North American and European time zones.
How we work
We are distributed and asynchronous by default. We operate as a senior team with low ceremony and high trust, and we hold ourselves to an honest engineering culture. We do not oversell, we do not obscure problems, and we expect the same standards from the people we hire.
