About The Job

As a Technical Project Manager at Klara Inc., you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering projects related to open source technologies, with a particular focus on OpenZFS, FreeBSD, and embedded systems.

This role demands a versatile individual who is comfortable working in a startup environment, collaborating with large enterprises, and effectively bridging the gap between different teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Execution:
    • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects related to open source technologies, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
    • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate with large enterprise clients to understand their requirements together with the engineering team and ensure project alignment with their objectives.
    • Act as a liaison between technical teams, clients, and management, ensuring effective communication and expectation management.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, engineers, and designers, to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and problem-solving.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
    • Proactively address any issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Resource Allocation:
    • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, tools, and equipment, to meet project objectives.
    • Monitor resource utilization and make adjustments as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience managing technical projects, especially in the open source ecosystem.
  • Knowledge and curiosity of OpenZFS, FreeBSD, and/or embedded systems.
  • Experience working in startup environments and with large enterprises.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies is an advantage.
