About The Job

We are seeking a dedicated Open Source Engineering Manager with a primary focus on FreeBSD. In this role, you will not only lead technical projects but also prioritize the well-being of your team, maintain strong customer relationships, and ensure successful project delivery.

This role demands a versatile individual who is comfortable working in a startup environment, collaborating with large enterprises, and effectively bridging the gap between different teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership and Development:
  • Foster a supportive and collaborative environment for the engineering team.

• Customer Relationship and Satisfaction:

• Project Management and Delivery:
  • Oversee the successful delivery of FreeBSD-based and other open-source projects.
  • Implement efficient project management methodologies to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet key milestones.
• FreeBSD Expertise:
  • Leverage existing engineering knowledge to develop a curiosity for the FreeBSD ecosystem and to learn to guide technical decisions and project strategies.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in FreeBSD and incorporate these into projects where appropriate.
• Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Develop strategic initiatives that leverage open-source solutions, particularly FreeBSD, to drive innovation and business value.
  • Collaborate with different departments to align project goals with organizational objectives.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in managing open source projects, with a strong focus on FreeBSD.
• Excellent leadership skills with experience in team management and development.
• Strong project management skills and experience in delivering complex technical projects.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
